Velium Bars

Postby Lickitys » Tue Sep 25, 2012 5:25 am

Does anybody know how to MAKE these. EQtraders does not have a recipe for them, and I have expermented until I am batty. With all of the Velium available in Crystal Caverns (The miners need a bit of persuasion). There should be..... any suggestions (buying it just to raise Jewelcrafting trade skill seems a bit of a waste)

There should be a way to convert velium weapons and ore into bars.
But there isn't!

Unless something has changed when I was away last year, velium bars can not be created, they have to be purchased. The velium you get from CC and Velks, etc... can be converted in form from small bricks to large bricks to blocks, or in reverse from blocks to large bricks to small bricks; but the bars are not in the tradeskill table.

Yes, I know, But I was hoping so, I tried all kinds of combines Coldain Velium Temper, Smithy hammers, Gnomish heat sources, ect.... just hoping that it was there, Just not been discovered. EQtraders Doesn't usually miss things like that, But I was Hoping. So now I am going to have to figure out what the least expensive way to get my Jewel crafting skill up (187 now, only that high because of the Coldain Prayer Shawl (1.0)).

I've just been collecting uncut gems as we level lowbie toons and it's gotten me into the mid 200's so far.

http://mboards.eqtraders.com/eq/showthr ... kill-Guide

I've done a few tradeskills based on that so far and I haven't been upset with the money results. But I take the time out to farm everything until my eyes are bleeding and then break down and buy a few stacks for whatever else I want to grind out.

Just make sure you're making items that are close in trivial level to your current level to minimize failures and you'll get most of your investment back when you resell the items. Even with a successful combine you'll lose a few plat each and there will be failures for a total loss but it's about the best you can expect. Focus on more of the old world stuff such as:
http://www.eqtraders.com/items/show_item.php?item=2342&menustr=080070900000
http://www.eqtraders.com/items/show_item.php?item=1888&menustr=080070900000

you can buy all the components from vendors and there should be options that take you at least into the mid 200's or higher.....been so long since I finished JC and I didn't take the time to go back through the whole trivial list to look them up. Of course free is always best, so if you can come up with enough drops (See Kajera's comments) that's the ideal option.

There is also a older version of the tradeskill guide at: http://www.mboards.eqtraders.com/eq/sho ... .php?33385

The trival list is a bit easier to read.

I cut gems to max my skill. I have a lot of gems stored in stacks of 100 at my house. Send me a email or in game tell sometime when you need some and I'll let you know if I have them or not.

Can't make bars that I know of but you can break the dropped velium weapons into bricks, blocks and pieces. Combine one with a smithy hammer (or maybe coldain smithy hammer, I forget) in a forge.
