Sentimental RL pics I found on my comp-Ground Zero

Here are a couple pictures I took when I went back to NYC just a couple months after the 9/11 tragedy. Quality isn't all that great, but when I see these, they remind me how fragile and precious life is, and who couldn't use that reminder every once in a while?

This is the view from standing on the waist-high baracades. I guess they had built a platform for mourners to view the area, but it wasn't up yet when I went back there.
This was as close as viewers were allowed to get.

Quote : " they remind me how fragile and precious life is " .... That is soooooo true . I can tell you from my experience that site was truly sureal . I was a volunteer fireman and EMT at the time those buildings came down . I as well as probablly every other volunteer in my and surrouinding areas waited at our respectd firehouses just waiting for the call to go . I never did go but on a trip to the city I did go to the "platform " you spoke of . I knew it wes devistating but when I saw first hand from that viewing platform , tears welled up in my eyes and i just cried . I really miss seeing those buildings . And every time that empty space is seen " they remind me how fragile and precious life is "
Just my thought when I saw the pics .. Helps to remember .. keeps things in perspective .. see you guys soon ...

My brother's wedding was in the reception hall on the 109th floor of building 2 about 3 weeks before Sep 11. We all stayed in the Marriott (I think it was) that sat basically between the two towers. Still scares me to think how close my whole family was...
