New Skill Caps...

Postby Bolwyn » Fri Feb 11, 2005 12:41 pm

Tradeskill caps are going up to 300 with the new expansion :!: Just when I thought it was within reach to get em all maxxed. Oh well, alot more cultural recipies are being added also, so maybe it'll actually be easier to get there.

This will make the 15% to tradeskills items even more useful now

Just curious - does this mean we'll be able to get all regular tradeskills to 250 and one to 300?

Good question, didn't see anything mentioned about it tho. It wasn't mentioned in the patch message either, so who knows if it went live at all. Guess I'll try some baking tonight and see if it goes up. I don't think they would do that since folks had to spend AAs to get all those above 200, but it's worth a shot.

Here's an example of some of the new cultural and the type of augment that goes in it. Enjoy!

LOL Spensir, guess who just found the thread. :P

As far as writing a book, you just reminded me I should continue working on the poison guide I started writing a while back. I got distracted and it only has 3 chapters currently, LOL. Been meaning to get back on that. It'll need some updating now as well, since the release of OoW. Hmm...

Just did some further skill ups, and it seems that the previous cap for skill% items may not be where it was at anymore (I seem to remember it was like 5 over the cap). I now have my smithing skill w/15% gloves at 309 (and counting).

Also of note. I forget who suggested doing skill ups via Mistletoe Cutting Sickles. If you have the pp its a great idea. I was making like 2 skill ups per stack of final combines (ok, so I have a high wisdom for some reason.....). AND, it turns out to be especially a good idea if you plan on donating to guild tribute. They cost on the order of 300 pp per attempt (if I got my math right between all the precurser combines). You might recover that plus some profit in the bazaar, but they're only like 4 pp to the merchant (and when doing skill ups you KNOW you're going to have to dump off a lot) -- but the big news is they're 1300 guild tribute each!!!!!!!! Thats like 4 guild tribute per pp spent on combine. Maybe I impress easily (don't burst my bubble) but that seems a pretty good ratio.

4 tribute per platinum spent is a good ratio Gwenalyne, you should donate some for personal tribute too at your home town because they stack. So you could have 150hp/mana from guild tribute on a raid and 150hp/mana from personal tribute too.

I occasionally buy stuff in the bazaar to fill guild tribute from pp that drops on raids, usually the best ratios I can find are 12 tribute per pp but only on small items that take forever and a day to ammount to anything. Usually for bigger items 3 or 4 to 1pp is a great ratio.

That would have been the one-eyed dorf rogue who made the suggestion to you, Gwen. :D

Assuming zero failures and high charisma, it works out to just under 305p per combine.

Yeah, I knew about the tribute thing also. Ever wonder why i'm so high on the guild tribute donations list? Well, now ya know, hehe. Those babies go for 1312 tribute each. A few kind guildies have helped me to recover some of the astronomical cost of making these things to skill up in return for the tribute they get for it. Has worked out to be a win-win scenario for all involved.

Grats on your skillups, hon!
