Suggestions?

Postby Emarinn » Tue May 10, 2011 2:10 pm

Any tips on a free-ish online game to pick at while we wait for Sony to find Norrath again?

I'm not overly interested in buying a new game and subbing to something, but I'll take some ideas into consideration.

WoW is not an option!

But that's like... a time commitment. I've started (and almost finished) another project since the servers went south, and I'm anxious to keep working on it.

Winning crib playing Derdarr is quick and easy. (Actually, we're pretty much even right now, but I like my telling of it better.)

I've been playing Dragon Age II and it is pretty well done. BIf you haven't played 'The Witcher' I highly reccomend it. I would have to say it is the best single player cRPG I have played to date. The Withcer 2 is due out in a week as well and I'll probably pick it up if SOE is still on mez.

Oh man, Bard's Tale! Classic game!

I remember the original Might&Magic games...sitting there with pages and pages of graph paper used to draw out maps and POIs. Good stuff.

Ommina's version of A Bard's Tale sounds interesting...I've never heard of the game though :(

I've been indulging my guilty pleasure of find and seek games and puzzles, but that's getting old FAST. I may have to do some exploring this weekend on a few of these suggestions!

Car and I have gotten into Lord of the Rings online free to DL and free to play, however you CAN subscribe if you want, but Car and I wanted something to get us through until EQ was back up and running, and I quite like LOTRO the graphics are really nice. And if anyone is interested, we are on the Silverlode server, or realm or whichever they are called, LOL *edited to let you know that yes it is easy to find us, as we are using the same names we have in EQ, LOL  we just can't get away from them, hehe

They released a new bards tale about 5 years ago and it included a copy of the original bards tale. I played it on a Commodore 64 in the 80s and thought it was a great game. Playing it in 2005ish was amazing how primitive it was.

I remember playing Bard's Tale. Picked that up right after Zork!

Lately I've been playing a mod to Civ4 called Fall From Heaven II. It's an extremely in-depth fantasy mod, a total conversion of the tech tree, races, resources and unit abilities/graphics. Sadly, there are no gnomes to kill, so I have to settle for slaughtering elves.

Well, it's going to take a few hours to download, but I believe I'm going to try out Star Trek: Online. I've been wanting to for a while, and they have a decent free demo!

I've been thinking about Runes of Magic also. I happened across an article about ST: Online, which made me go poking at their website and that's how I found out about the demo. I really wanted to try it ages ago, but never got around to it (and I was too cheap to put out the money for it! :P), and this is the perfect opportunity. Of course, I'll download the demo/game and play for a day, then the EQ servers will be back up!! LOL
