Fletching those last few gawdawful points
From time to time I've seen folks agonizing thru the last 18 point in fletching. The number of bows on EQTraders makes finding recipes that are cheapest (most skillup combines per drop) a research chore. Buc's post in the following link describes probably the cheapest, least time-consuming way to max fletching (unless you are one of those cheating Karana worshippers, hehe):

Anyway, that was the route I took on both my toons and it didn't take too long. Do your combines in Cresent Reach, all the vender materials are there and if you run short of strings, abundant spiderling silk is avilable in zone in the newbie area.

for spiderling silks, the very best place i've found is a crypt on the west side of field of bone.
picture a half dozen spiderlings with a repop rate of under 20 seconds. I'd hit F8 to target and send in the pet until the floor was full of corpses then loot em all and repeat. I got 400 silks in 90 minutes.

Just so I understand -- this is the route you took?
I got to 282 without budging from the guy in PoK. Having to farm parts is going to finish me.288 Supple Treant Laminated Recurve Bow (involves farming and/or foraging)
302 Oak Treant Laminated Recurve Bow (involves farming and/or foraging)
308 Desiccated Treant Laminated Recurve Bow (involves farming and/or foraging)

If you want to farm silks, like meso stated...I can forage branches and make cams for you. I am doing that for Encanto now. Just let me know.

Yep, used those recipes for the last 18 skill-ups on both my toons. The recurve bows do not require cams, just branches, silks and horse hooves. The branches drop at a good rate in Blightfire and the hooves in Loping Plains. The farming part really isn't that bad. Also, since the bow staves are also high triv, you get more than one skill up chance per drop. I think it's something like 1.5 skill up attempts per branch looted or foraged. The hooves make 10 adhesives per hoof, so those add up quickly. With LP a current hotzone, I would check the zone in venders for hooves.Ommina wrote:Just so I understand -- this is the route you took?

Rough estimate for attempts using the EQTraders calculator is about 575 attempts to get 18 points. That comes to about 380 branches, 29 hooves and 580 silks. Fletching mastery did not significantly change the numbers but for god's sake make sure salvage is maxed. Doing the same with energaic bows that would be about 1500 sunshard ores and a shit-ton of plat, although you would get a bunch of 300+ triv JC combines as well out of that route.
When I looked at EQTraders I saw some other recipes that I had not noticed before using a Recurve Bow Diagram:

That's a new one to me, might want to look into that one too. Looks like the only dropped components would be silks and fluids.

Wiggle it, just a little bit.
Good idea on the Loping Plains vendor for the hooves. I tried hailing one to just ask for it's hooves, but it didn't work. No one can talk to a horse, of course.
I can't ask somebody to collect up parts for me. However, it does seem that I'll need help on the creation of the "Geerlok Laminating Device" thingie, since its tinkering restricted. Thankfully it is not consumed, so I only need one.Goofydoofy wrote:If you want to farm silks, like meso stated...I can forage branches and make cams for you. I am doing that for Encanto now. I can't recall how I finished fletching...but I seem to recall quite a lot of tree murder. Another good spot for branches is Oceangreen btw, reasonably fast spawns that still give a small amount of exp to make up for the sheer torture.
Re: Fletching those last few gawdawful points
That's interesting. It may be time to branch out.
