Everquest trying to recruit back previous subscribers

Postby Jhereg » Mon Jun 02, 2008 10:51 am

There's a list of things they are doing this summer to try and get back people from other games and presumeably draw in new ones eventually also.

I might have to bring Jaff back - if I can deal with the patching :P.

Wow, I am impressed, this looks like a non-trivial genuine attempt at breathing life back into EQ.

Will have to see if any advertising goes with it. If so, I see some promise in it working.

Makes me wish I had a second account that I had let lapse.

Would be really great to see more players. The days of seeing zones with 30 plus players (except new content) are long gone. Glad to see instead of a new expansion they are trying to fix the low end game.

On the difficult of the raid events:

I'd say they should start at the Demiplane level and go from there. The way they're set up you and your raid force will have to find out, individually, how far you can take these things. They're set up to be somewhat similar to the Arena group fight in Freeport in that they start off relatively easy and then just get harder and harder. I won't spoil the events too much though - you'll need to get in there and find out for yourself. It is a competition, after all, complete with leader boards and everything.

Loot will be handled like this:

Everyone in the raid who zones into each instance for the raids will get an item that will invisibly track your progress through the events. The data on how well everyone does will be piped to the leader boards. At the end of the event we'll go through the leader boards, per server, and based on your individual ranking on the server you'll get various levels of rewards.

Curious.

bleh Jaff is not even 60 yet so I would not be able to participate in much. I guess if this stuff applies to EQ2 also, so I might take a look over there

I'd like to try. Btw, they will repeat at the end all 4 raids for a while.

Jhereg-

I'm well for the most part. Work is intense - new program I'm working is 50-100+ billion competition. Little pressure, huh?

I've read several of the books you all listed during my last visit :)

Bad news - patcher garbled things up. I have to repatch so it'll be quite a bit until I get online. I forget one of my account passwords and the email account got closed from lack of use :( So either Vorosh or Nebbie will be unavailable unless I can work some magic with the accounts folks.

We've played before Jaffod, just not much at the same time!

I see there are still several of the older crowd here and look forward to seeing ya ingame given the opportunity.

I logged on as Jaff this eveing - I did not realise I had ever gotten him past level 60

Played Trab for a little while also, had no idea what I was doing. Ding 79 though  , Bobbert did all the work though

Patching eq2 atm - still have 10 hours left  :!: :!:
