I use about 6 of them, seems none are failproof and each finds different things.
http://www.globalhauri.com/html/
http://www.xoftspy.com/
http://www.lavasoft.com/
http://www.spysweeper.com/
http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/a ... ncipal.htm

I think all of these have trial versions you can use to scan.
When I used Norton I had constant problems with viruses and trojans, I dont even use it anymore was worthless to me.

Good Luck

I use SystemSuite that I paid 39.95 a couple years ago. This is a Trend virus scanner that litterally gets updated daily, and it has many other useful tools *defrag, scheduler, disk repair tools, firewall, etc.

The virus scanner operates in the on demand scan and will not knock you out of the game.

If you have Windows XP (any service pack), Microsoft has come up with a spyware/adware package that works on all the computers on my network here except Linux of course ...

Also, Trend Micro does an online scanner for free ...
ths online version can be found here: http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
If you want to download something for free ... try AVG ...
