Guild Wars 2

Postby Goofydoofy » Tue Dec 25, 2012 6:07 pm

So I just ordered this game. Was told it is pretty good. It is online. Don't know if there are different servers like Everquest or what. Anybody here play Guild Wars 2? If so, what is your name and if there are different servers, where do you play and why?

Lots of different servers, it has PvE, PvP and WvW (world versus world). You can do all even with a baby toon. The graphics are awesome! I don't play atm, but I believe that Nlannie does on occasion. It's a great game and there are tons of ways you can level up, solo or with groups. It is a bit confusing at the start, but folks seem to be pretty helpful. If you like, I can post some links to GW2 websites that I found to be helpful.

GW2 is lots of fun dudes. When I play I'm usually on as Hladgunnr on the Stormbluff Isle server.

Names are unique serverwide in GW2 and cross server tells are just the same as regular ones. And if you friend a character it friends the account or something~

All respect has been lost for both Goofy and Nlannie. I expected better out of both of you!...this is a sad day indeed.

I had respect? Wow, I never knew. Nlannie, why did you choose the server you are on?

I like storms, cliffs and islands! It was totally random, turns out its one of the top 5 pvp servers in the game when it feels like it!

I'm on Sanctum of Rall, but haven't picked up the game since the day I hit my goal and had a full set of all armor dyes. That and a lack of time.

Still, awesome game.

OK, so I've leveled to 80 and have completed all my solo personal story stuff. Now, I keep getting all this exp for no reason. Is there a reason to keep playing this game other then to get better gear? Does the earned exp do any good after 80 for something I don't know about??

XP should turn into skill points, and skill points are a currency.

I haven't noticed if I get an extra skill point each time I level through 80 again. I'll check that. How are skill points currency? We are talking about the trait things you use to buy like AAs in Everquest?

Once you buy all your skills, there are actual item sets (including PVP) and I think some consumables, and definitely trade skill items bought with skill points from vendors. There's a bunch of them in Lion's Arch, but I don't know much about it first-hand, having stalled before level 40 myself.

OK, I'm a ways off from having all my skills, yet. I'll have to verifiy I am getting a skill point with each level after 80. If so, I guess I can see what I can buy after all the skills. Maybe do some dungeons and look in to PVP and WVW stuff.

The newest patch is amazing.

Hey did anyone try and friend me? I haven't been playing for the last few weeks and I've got a few names on the Followers thing that I am lead to believe is the " people who have friended you" list. I'd add them all but I don't wanna add some random weirdos.

The new patch is pretty insane and really fun. I've been playing it solo off and on (got a bit past the beedog queen thing).

I haven't friended anyone. I still play daily for a bit before work to get my daily done. I tried half the new story thing. Kind of fun, but same type as the rest. The Super Adventure Fun Box looks really good. I've been messing with some chests in the outside world, which can be a serious pain in higher zones...But I have yet to hit the Box itself. Probably on the weekend when I have more time. I really like this game for a quick 30 minute waste of time, or more.

The funny thing is it is all 16 bit graphics. We are going back to the 70's and 80's in this game and it's all the rage!

What I want to know is -- was King Toad correct? Did y'all croak?? ;)

And aren't those icons in the upper left corner from GW2?

The entire thing is GW2 - it's from April's update, a new set of levels heavily inspired by Zelda, Wizards and Warriors, and other 8/16 bit games (mostly NES/SNES).
