Re: Mercenaries

I was buying a ton of stuff for making power sources a while back and drained my on-hand cash, forgetting that I still had my merc out. The heartless wench abandoned me on the spot and I had to go and hire a new one.

They will also abandon you if you don't have enough cash on hand for their payment.

Sorry to hear about your loss. Take all the time you need, we don't hold such things against you. Just promise to keep healing me when I afk in the middle of a punishing AE cause my kids are going nuts upstairs.

Re: Once again contemplating a return...

Mages do pretty good moloing in HoT. A mage pet with good defensive AAs and a merc healer can handle most named. The pulls aren't too bad in most places, you can usually get singles or maybe two mobs which you should be able to handle well enough. Dream fragments for rank 2 spells are selling cheap ...

I remember playing Bard's Tale. Picked that up right after Zork! Lately I've been playing a mod to Civ4 called Fall From Heaven II. It's an extremely in-depth fantasy mod, a total conversion of the tech tree, races, resources and unit abilities/graphics. Sadly, there are no gnomes to kill, so I have...

Re: Tokyo, May 3, 2011 - Press Release (Sony Hack)

On my recent 2-week reserve duty, I actually learned something useful. The military has some of the most mind-numbing restrictions on characters used in passwords, making it extremely difficult to come up with a password based on some easily remembered word or name (which is the point I guess) thus ...

Uhhg....already have everything fixed in the new directory (I think), so I'll probably leave well-enough as is. I'll definitely do that on my laptop which I didn't update yet and I know for sure doesn't have an additional 6.5G of free memory.

Re: Server Downtime for Maintenance – Wednesday, April 27, 2

Well, as of yesterday the old patcher doesn't work for me any more. I downloaded the new launcher and it proceeded to download the entire game into a new directory. 6.5GB. I'm glad I was working from home most of the day so I was able to let it run for a couple hours and finish the download. Bad par...

Re: Cosgrove Powder

I really would shy away from using cosgrove powder for skillups. Besides all it's uses in UF tradeskills it can also be transformed into chronal resonance dust which is used to make powersources among other things. All that means demand for cosgrove powder is very high and is forcing the baz price up.

Re: Cosgrove Powder

You can also do Star Ruby Encrusted Steins. They take more subcombines, however all the components are vender-bought (other than magic clay from a lvl 8 chanter). The cost is about 80pp per successful combine and the finished stein tributes for 234. More time intensive, but you get more out of it fo...

I remember Bard's Tale graphics, hehe. Hard to believe now that I spent so many hours playing it back then. For it's time it was great. I also loved the Pool of Radiance series by SSI back in the day, in which I made my first characters adorned in purple and teal armor, lol.

Fletching those last few gawdawful points

From time to time I've seen folks agonizing thru the last 18 point in fletching. The number of bows on EQTraders makes finding recipes that are cheapest (most skillup combines per drop) a research chore. Buc's post in the following link describes probably the cheapest, least time-consuming way to ma...
